Creating Google Sheets

Creating a new spreadsheet is the first action you need to master to start working in Google Sheets. There are several ways to create a document, and you can choose the one that is most convenient for you.

Creating Sheets via sheets.google.com/create

This method allows you to instantly create a new file through the address bar.

In the address bar, enter https://sheets.google.com/create.

Creating Sheets through the Google Apps Menu

A convenient option for those who already use other Google applications, allowing for quick switching between them.

  • Go to google.com or be in any standard Google applications;
  • In the top right corner of the screen, find the icon of 9 dots, which opens the Google Apps menu. Click on this icon;
  • In the opened menu, find and click on the Sheets icon;
  • In Google Sheets, click the Blank Spreadsheet button.

Creating Sheets via Google Drive

If you frequently work with files in Google Drive, this method will help you create a spreadsheet directly from your storage.

  • Go to Google Drive at drive.google.com;
  • In the top left corner of the screen, click the New button;
  • In the dropdown menu, select Google Sheets.

Generating a New Sheet Using an Existing Table

This is useful when you are already in a spreadsheet and want to create a new one without closing the current one.

  • In an open spreadsheet, go to the File menu;
  • In the dropdown menu, select New;
  • In the submenu, select Spreadsheet.
