Merging Cells and Text Alignment

Merging Cells

Merging cells allows you to combine multiple cells into one, creating larger areas for text input or visual formatting.

Select the range of cells you want to merge.

On the toolbar, click the Merge cells icon (two connected cells).

Click the arrow next to Merge cells to open the dropdown menu.

  • The dropdown menu offers several options for merging cells:
    • Merge all — merges all selected cells into one (the same as through the toolbar);
    • Merge vertically — merges cells only vertically, leaving the columns separated;
    • Merge horizontally — merges cells only horizontally, leaving the rows separated;
    • Unmerge — undoes the previous merge, splitting the cells back into individual ones.

Aligning Text

Text alignment helps improve readability and the visual structure of data in the cells.

Select the cell or range of cells where you want to change the text alignment.

Horizontal Alignment

Horizontal alignment determines the position of text within the width of the cell.

  • On the toolbar, click the Horizontal align icon (three horizontal lines);
  • Choose one of the following alignment options:
    • Left — text will be aligned to the left;
    • Center — text will be centered;
    • Right — text will be aligned to the right.

Vertical Alignment

Vertical alignment adjusts the position of text within the height of the cell.

  • On the toolbar, click the Vertical align icon (three vertical lines);
  • Choose one of the following alignment options:
    • Top — text will be aligned to the top of the cell;
    • Middle — text will be vertically centered;
    • Bottom — text will be aligned to the bottom of the cell.
