Adjusting Column and Row Size and Position
Resizing Columns and Rows
Proper resizing of columns and rows helps to adapt the sheet to the necessary data.
Select a cell or a range of cells.
Resizing with Mouse
Resizing cells is done by simply dragging the borders of the cells.
- Hover the cursor over the border between column headers (letters) or row headers (numbers) until the cursor changes to an arrow;
- Drag the border to the desired size while holding down the left mouse button.
Resizing via Context Menu
Cell size can be changed using the options available in the context menu.
- To set an exact size, right-click on the header of the column or row whose size you want to change;
- Select Resize column or Resize row;
- Enter the exact width or height value and click OK;
- To use auto size, select Fit to data in the context menu.
Auto-Resizing
Auto-resizing automatically adjusts the column width or row height to fit the content.
Double-click on the border between column headers or row headers, and their size will automatically adjust to the content.
Moving Columns and Rows
Moving columns and rows helps to quickly change the order of data.
These methods work for any number of rows and columns.
Moving by Dragging
Cells can be moved by simply dragging the selected range.
- Click on the header of the column or row you want to move;
- Drag the header to the new location. The column or row will move to the selected position.
Moving with Replacement via Context Menu
Moving cells with replacement can be done via the context menu for convenience.
- Right-click on the header of the column or row you want to move;
- Select Cut in the context menu;
- Go to the new location where you want to insert the column or row;
- Right-click on the header of the new location and select Paste.
