Formatting Text and Filling with Color
Formatting Text
Text formatting helps highlight information and improve the perception of the content.
Select a cell or range of cells.
Applying Bold
You can use several methods:
- On the toolbar, click the B (Bold) icon;
- Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + B (Windows) or ⌘ + B (Mac);
- Via the Format → Text → Bold tab.
Applying Italics
You can use several methods:
- On the toolbar, click the I (Italic) icon;
- Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + I (Windows) or ⌘ + I (Mac);
- Via the Format → Text → Italic tab.
Applying Strikethrough
You can use several methods:
- On the toolbar, click the S icon with a line through it (Strikethrough);
- Keyboard shortcut Alt + Shift + 5 (Windows) or ⌘ + Shift + X (Mac);
- Via the Format → Text → Strikethrough tab.
Applying Underline
You can use several methods:
- Go through the Format → Text → Underline menu;
- Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + U (Windows) or ⌘ + U (Mac).
Setting Text Color
- On the toolbar, click the icon with the letter A and a color palette (Text Color);
- Choose the desired color from the available options or click Custom to select a different color.
At the top of the Text Color menu, you can reset the text color by clicking Reset.
Applying Fill Color
Cell background color helps highlight important data or improve the visual structure of the table.
Select a cell or range of cells whose background color you want to change.
- On the toolbar, click the paint bucket icon (Fill Color);
- You will see a palette with various colors;
- Choose the desired color from the available options or click Custom to select a different color.
At the top of the Fill Color menu, you can reset the background color by clicking Reset.
