UI/UX with Figma
Pen Tool
- The Pen Tool is found in the toolbar at the bottom. It creates shapes by connecting two points (or nodes);
- A circle icon appears when completing a shape to close it;
- Shapes drawn by the pen tool have a stroke by default with no fill;
- To draw curves, click and drag to create handles;
- Handles control the curvature; one handle affects the previous curve, the other the upcoming curve;
- Use Alt/Option to break handles for independent control;
- Hold Shift while dragging handles to snap them to vertical, horizontal, or 45° angles;
- Use Ctrl/Command to access the bend tool for converting straight lines to curves or modifying nodes;
- You can remove or add handles by hovering over nodes while still holding Ctrl/Command;
- While using the pen tool, you're in an "isolation mode." Figma sees created shapes as one until you exit with Escape.
