Horizontal and Vertical Axis Customization

  • Label font — allows you to select the font for axis labels;
  • Label font size — adjusts the font size for axis labels. Larger fonts make axis values easier to read;
  • Label format — determines how data will appear on the axis. For example, you can choose a numeric or text format for labels;
  • Text color — changes the text color of axis labels to improve visibility and contrast with the chart background;
  • Min/Max — allows you to set the minimum and maximum values for the axis. This is helpful if you need to limit the displayed data range;
  • Scale factor — scales the axis for better readability of data with a wide range of values. It can be used for fine-tuning the visualization;
  • Number format — lets you specify the number format for axis labels (e.g., with thousand separators, decimal places, etc.);
  • Log scale — a logarithmic scale for data display on both axes. It is useful when working with data that spans a wide range of values, enabling better visualization of large and small magnitudes on the same chart.

Customizing Horizontal Axis

The horizontal axis (X-axis) typically displays categorical data or time intervals. The following unique options are available:

  • Reverse axis order — reverses the axis order, which is useful for displaying data in reverse order (e.g., from the latest date to the earliest);
  • Slant labels — tilts the labels on the X-axis. This is particularly helpful if labels are long or numerous, as tilting improves readability. You can choose the angle of tilt based on the length of the label text.

Customizing Vertical Axis

The vertical axis (Y-axis) typically displays numerical data and may include the following unique options:

Show axis line — allows you to show or hide the axis line. This helps either clean up the chart or emphasize the axis for better focus.

Key Differences

  • Horizontal axis (X) is usually used for categories and time intervals. It offers additional settings for slanted labels and reversing the order of values;
  • Vertical axis (Y) primarily handles numerical data.
