Freezing and Grouping Rows and Columns
Freezing Rows and Columns
Freezing rows and columns allows you to keep certain parts of the sheet visible as you scroll through the data. This is especially useful when working with large sheets.
- Go to the View → Freeze menu;
- Choose how many rows or columns you want to freeze:
- 1 row — freezes the top row;
- 2 rows — freezes the first two rows;
- Up to current row — freezes all rows up to the selected cell;
- 1 column — freezes the first column;
- 2 columns — freezes the first two columns;
- Up to current column — freezes all columns up to the selected cell.
Unfreezing
- Go to the View → Freeze menu;
- Select No rows or No columns to unfreeze.
Grouping Rows and Columns
Grouping rows and columns allows you to organize data more compactly by creating collapsed groups for easier navigation.
Grouping with Right Click
Grouping rows or columns is done through the right-click context menu.
- Select the rows or columns you want to group;
- Right-click on the selected rows or columns;
- Select View more actions, then click Group rows or Group columns;
- A line with a minus symbol will appear next to the group of rows or columns.
Grouping through Menu
You can group rows and columns using the Group command in the menu.
- Select the rows or columns you want to group;
- Go to the View → Group menu;
- Click Group rows or Group columns;
- A line with a minus symbol will appear next to the group of rows or columns.
Ungrouping Rows and Columns
Ungrouping removes the grouping of rows or columns, returning them to their original state.
- Right-click on the grouped rows or columns;
- Select View more actions, then Ungroup rows or Ungroup columns to ungroup the items;
- You can also ungroup via the View → Ungroup menu, then select Ungroup rows or Ungroup columns.
