It's now time to dive into our first experience with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) in the video. We'll start by creating our initial measures and then learn how to organize them within a calculation table. This will help us structure and manage our calculations effectively, making our data analysis and reporting workflows smoother in Power BI and Excel Power Pivot. In addition to aggregation functions, we will explore CALCULATE in DAX which helps to adjusts the context of a calculation by applying filters.

To create total riders from our two rider type columns, we will use DAX to combine the two columns with the SUM function and the + operator:

To create a filter calculation for riders in the winter, we will leverage the DAX function CALCULATE with our total riders measure:
