Editing Data in Charts

Alright, let's get busy with some real-time data editing right within our charts in Excel.

We'll dive into the practical aspects of changing the data that your charts are displaying. You'll learn how to edit, add and remove your series data.

Key Points

  • Use the Select Data button to change which data your chart is using;
  • Change the orientation of your chart data by using the Switch Row/Column button;
  • Use the Change Chart button to select a different chart;
  • Edit the range for your series data;
  • Add a new data series to your chart;
  • Remove irrelevant data series;
  • Change Horizontal Axis Labels;
  • Use the Switch Row/Column button to toggle data orientation;
  • Change the chart type.

Tarea

  • Select Income and Expenses Chart. Go to the Chart Design tab, click on Select Data. Click on Fixed Costs, click Edit, select Savings in F5 then select cells F6 to F17 for values, and click OK.
  • Click Add in Legend Entries, select Fixed Costs, select cells from E6 to E17, and click OK.
  • Select Savings Chart. Click Change Chart type.
  • Choose a Clustered Column Chart. Click OK.
