Trimming Whitespaces

You'll learn how to automatically remove extra spaces at the beginning, end, and between text in cells. This helps clean up data and prevents errors during processing.

  1. Select the cells or range of cells where you need to remove extra spaces;
  2. Go to the Data menu → Data cleanupTrim Whitespace;
  3. Google Sheets will automatically remove all spaces at the beginning and end of the text in selected cells, leaving only single spaces between words.

This feature is especially useful when working with email addresses. For example, if a cell contains " john.doe@example.com ", after applying Trim Whitespace, it will become "john.doe@example.com". This prevents potential errors when sending emails or importing data into other systems.
