Email marketing remains one of the most effective tools for direct audience engagement and conversion optimization. Unlike social media platforms, where visibility depends on algorithms, email marketing allows you to reach your audience directly in their inbox. Whether you're sending newsletters, product promotions, or personalized offers, HubSpot simplifies the email marketing process, making it easy to create, customize, and analyze email campaigns.

Let's learn how to set up an email marketing campaign in HubSpot.

Step 1: Accessing the Email Tool

  1. Log into HubSpot and navigate to Marketing > Emails;
  2. Here, you can view past campaigns and analyze key performance metrics such as:
    • Sent rate: the percentage of emails successfully delivered;
    • Open rate: the percentage of recipients who opened your email;
    • Click-Through Rate (CTR): the percentage of recipients who clicked a link inside the email;
    • Reply rate: the percentage of recipients who responded to your email.

Step 2: Creating a New Email

  1. Click Create Email in the top-right corner;
  2. Choose from the following email types:
    • Regular rmail: used for newsletters, promotions, or product announcements;
    • Blog-style email: used to send automated blog updates.
  3. (Automated emails require HubSpot's Pro version and won't be covered in this course);
  4. Click Regular Email and proceed.

Step 3: Choosing an Email Template

  1. HubSpot provides various pre-designed templates for:
    • Newsletters;
    • E-commerce promotions;
    • Event invitations.
  2. Select a template that aligns with your campaign's goal.

Step 4: Customizing the Email

  • Updating the logo: click on the logo, select Edit > Replace, and upload your own;
  • Changing images: click on an image, select Replace, and upload a new one;
  • Editing text: click directly on any text field and update content;
  • Removing sections: if a section isn't needed, delete it to streamline your design.

Step 5: Setting Subject Line & Preview Text

  1. Click Settings to add a:
    • Subject line: this should be engaging to encourage email opens. (Example: "Exclusive 20% Off – Limited Time!");
    • Preview text: the snippet shown in email notifications before opening the email. (Example: "Don't miss out on our special offer.").

👉 Tip: The preview text should be compelling and different from the subject line to entice recipients to open the email.

Step 6: Selecting Recipients & Sending the Email

  1. Choose your recipient list (e.g., New Subscribers);
  2. Exclude contacts who have unsubscribed to comply with email marketing regulations;
  3. Click Review and Send to finalize your campaign;
  4. You can either:
    • Send the email immediately, or
    • Schedule it for a later time and date.
