Trimming Whitespaces
In this chapter, we will cover the topic Trimming Whitespaces. You will learn how to automatically remove extra spaces at the beginning, end, and between text in cells. This will help you clean up data and avoid errors during processing.
- Select the cells or range of cells from which you need to remove extra spaces;
- Go to the Data menu → Data cleanup → Trim Whitespace;
- Google Sheets will automatically remove all spaces at the beginning and end of the values in the selected cells, leaving spaces only between words.
If a cell contained the value " John Doe ", after applying Trim Whitespace, it will become "John Doe". " 123 Main St , New York !" will turn into "123 Main St , New York !"
