bookDrawing Assistance Tools

  • Eraser Tool: erases entire objects or shapes when selected;
  • Scissors Tool: cuts paths on objects, creating new segments by cutting at specific points;
  • Path Eraser Tool: deletes segments of a selected path. Can be accessible from the "Edit Toolbar" section or can be added to the toolbar for quick access;
  • Knife Tool: cuts objects into separate pieces. After cutting, objects are expanded and treated as separate shapes;
  • Join Tool: joins two close paths or lines automatically by Illustrator. It can also trim excess parts of overlapping lines, especially useful for cleaning up edges in artwork;
  • If all the relevant tools are used frequently, switching to the Advanced Toolbar gives easier access. They are accessible from the hamburger menu by selecting "Advanced" instead of "Basic."
  • The Smooth Tool: helps refine hand-drawn objects by smoothing out irregularities;
  • It has an adjustable smoothing slider which allows for minimal to ultra-smooth effects;
  • This slider can be used manually or automatically to adjust the smoothness of lines or paths;
  • The "Smooth" command is also accessible under the "Object > Path > Smooth" menu with the same smoothing slider;
  • There is also the Simplify command that reduces or increases anchor points on an object to simplify its shape;
  • It includes an automatic simplify option and more detailed settings for fine-tuning anchor points which can improve the neatness and quality of a drawing.
