Turning Filters On and Off

  • Click any cell inside the range → Data tab → Filter, or press Ctrl+Shift+L (Win)/Control+Shift+L (Mac). Dropdown arrows appear in every header cell;
  • Tables created with Ctrl+T have filters enabled automatically in the header row — no manual step needed;
  • Click Filter again in the ribbon, or press Ctrl+Shift+L a second time. The dropdown arrows are removed from the header row.

Filter type depends on data types:

  1. Text filter: filter by specific values or text conditions;
  2. Number filter: filter by comparisons such as greater than, less than, or between;
  3. Date filter: filter by periods — specific dates, months, or years.

AND / OR Logic Across Multiple Filters

  • OR: within a single column — a row shows if it matches any selected value;
  • AND: across different columns — a row must satisfy all active filters to remain visible.
Note
Note

Shortcut turns off all filters at once. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+L to turn filters off removes every active filter condition across all columns simultaneously — not just the current column. If you only want to reset one column, use Clear Filter from that column's dropdown instead.
