Social Sharing Plugin

Adding Social Sharing to Your Website

Social sharing plugins allow visitors to share your content on social media platforms with just one click. This can help drive more traffic to your site and increase your online visibility. In this lesson, you'll learn how to configure and display share buttons using the plugin we installed earlier: Sassy Social Share.

Why Social Sharing Is Important

Social media plays a big role in helping websites grow. When someone shares your content on their own social profiles, it exposes your website to a wider audience. This kind of visibility helps bring in new visitors without any extra effort on your part.

Adding social sharing buttons makes it easy for users to spread your message—whether it's a blog post, contact page, or landing page.

To start customizing the buttons:

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, look for Sassy Social Share in the left menu;
  2. Click it to open the settings panel.

Here, you'll find options for appearance, placement, and behavior of your sharing buttons.

By default, the plugin adds share buttons to all posts and pages. However, sometimes you may want to hide them on specific pages—such as a contact page, privacy policy, or thank-you page.

To remove the buttons from a specific page:

  1. Go to Pages → All Pages and click Edit on the page you want to modify (e.g., the Contact page);
  2. Scroll down until you find the section called Sassy Social Share;
  3. Check both options:
    • Disable Standard Sharing interface on this page;
    • Disable Floating Sharing interface on this page.
  4. Click Update to save your changes.

The buttons will now be hidden on this page—but remain active across the rest of your website.

Customizing the Button Appearance and Behavior

Back in the plugin settings, you can fine-tune how the sharing buttons look and behave.

To customize:

  1. Go to Sassy Social Share → Standard Interface (in the plugin menu);
  2. From here, you can:
    • Choose which social networks to display (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, WhatsApp);
    • Set the icon size, shape, and alignment;
    • Decide whether buttons should appear before, after, or both around your content.
  3. After applying your changes, visit any public page or post to preview the result.

You can always come back and refine the style later.
