Different Types of Charts

Sveip for å vise menyen

Within your workbook, there is a huge variety of different charts that can be implemented. Before implementing a chart, it should be clear to you what kind of information you would like to share with your audience. Here, we will focus on presenting the different types of charts, but always keep in mind your final goal! 🎯

Here are the top three categories of charts that are commonly used for different types of data:

  • Clustered Column Chart is one of the most common chart types in Excel. It's used to compare values across different categories. Each category is represented by a separate column, making it easy to see how values differ from one category to another. Clustered column charts are great for showing variations over time, comparing sales data, or displaying survey results;
  • Line charts are excellent for showing trends and changes over time. They connect data points with lines, making it easy to visualize how values evolve sequentially. Line charts are often used in financial analysis, stock market tracking, and temperature trends over time;
  • Pie Chart are effective for showing the composition of a whole. They divide a circle into slices to represent the proportions of different categories within the whole. Pie charts are commonly used for displaying market share, budget breakdowns, or any data where you want to emphasize the parts of a whole;
