Getting Familiar with Claude
Sveip for å vise menyen
A guided tour of the Claude desktop app, your main tool for this course. Explore chat, Cowork, projects, connectors, and models the core features you'll use in every chapter.
Core Concept
Download the Claude Desktop app for your operating system. Use the desktop version, not the browser version, since most of this course uses Cowork features.
Claude offers two main modes:
- Chat for simple conversations and one-off questions.
- Cowork for working directly with files, folders, and connected apps.
Most of this course uses Cowork.
Create a new Project called Claude Tutorial. Enable memory and store it inside a parent folder such as Claude Projects.
Keep Ask before acting turned on so Claude requests permission before making changes to your computer. Disable it only for trusted personal workflows.
Choose Sonnet 4.6. It provides the best balance of quality, speed, and cost for everyday office tasks.
The main sections you'll use are:
- New task for starting a new Cowork session
- Projects for managing workspaces
- Scheduled tasks for automations
- Customize for connectors and skills
Open Customize and familiarize yourself with:
- Connectors, used to link apps like Gmail and Calendar
- Skills, reusable instruction sets you'll use later in the course
