Row-Level Security

Sveip for å vise menyen

When multiple people share a report, they do not all need to see the same data. Row-level security lets you control exactly what each user sees without building separate reports. In this chapter you'll define three RLS roles in Power BI Desktop – Retail, Wholesale, and Online – each with a DAX filter expression that restricts the Customers table to a single segment. Because the Customers table connects to Sales through your data model, the filter automatically flows through to every sales metric in the report.

You'll test each role using the built-in View as feature, watching the entire dashboard update to show segment-specific data. By the end of this chapter the roles are defined and verified – ready to be assigned to real users in the Service in the next chapter.

question mark

You define a Retail role with the filter [Segment] = "Retail" on the Customers table. A user assigned to the Retail role opens the report. What data do they see on the Geography map, which shows revenue by state?
