Creating Columns

Creating new columns in Power BI’s Power Query is simple and flexible with features such as Column by Example, Conditional Columns, and Custom Columns.

The Column by Example feature lets you generate new columns by entering sample values, allowing Power Query to detect and apply the transformation automatically. Conditional Columns enable you to define logical rules to create values based on specific conditions, similar to using IF statements in Excel. Finally, Custom Columns provide full flexibility to create new fields using the M language, giving you complete control over data transformation logic.
