Editing and Customizing Pages
Now that we've set up our menus and widgets, it's time to customize the pre-built pages that came with our Starter Template. Instead of creating pages from scratch, we'll edit the existing Home, About, and Contact pages to match our needs.
Since our Starter Template already includes pre-built pages, we don't need to create them manually. Instead, we'll edit the existing content to match our website's purpose.
To edit a page:
- Go to Pages → All Pages in the WordPress dashboard;
- Click Edit on the page you want to update (e.g., Home, About, or Contact);
- The Block Editor will open, allowing you to modify text, images, and sections.
To update text on a page:
- Click on the text block you want to edit;
- Type your new content directly inside the block;
- Use the Block Toolbar to apply formatting, such as bold or italic text.
Tip: keep headings clear and concise; a strong headline helps visitors understand your site's purpose instantly.
Replacing images is simple:
- Click on an existing Image Block;
- In the Block Toolbar, click Replace → Upload;
- Select an image from your computer or choose one from the Media Library.
Tip: Use high-quality images to keep your website visually appealing.
To update a button:
- Click on the Button Block;
- Change the button text to something relevant (e.g., "Contact Us" or "Get Started");
- Click the link icon and enter the page URL where the button should direct visitors.
After editing a page, always preview your changes before publishing:
- Click the Preview button to see how the page will look;
- If everything looks good, click Update to save your edits.
