Creating a Date Table

Desliza para mostrar el menú

Time intelligence functions in Power BI require a dedicated Date table, and this chapter shows you exactly how to build one. You'll use CALENDARAUTO to generate a complete, continuous calendar from your data's date range, then add calculated columns for Year, Month, Quarter, and Week Number.

You'll mark the table as an official date table, connect it to the Sales table through relationships, and verify everything works with a line chart showing monthly revenue. By the end, your model is fully connected and ready for the YTD and Year-over-Year measures in the next chapter.

question mark

Why can't you simply use the OrderDate column in the Sales table for time intelligence calculations instead of creating a separate Date table?
