Cleaning Data

Raw data is rarely ready for analysis. In this chapter, you'll use Power Query to clean data by fixing data types, renaming columns for clarity, and handling errors and blank values. You'll also learn how to use Power Query's built-in data profiling tools (Column Quality, Column Distribution, and Column Profile) to quickly spot issues without scrolling through thousands of rows.

By the end of this chapter, all three tables in your data model will have properly typed columns, readable names, and a clean foundation for the reports you'll build later in the course.

1. You turn on Column Quality in Power Query and see a column with a small red section in its bar. What does the red indicate?

2. You rename a column in Power Query and then realize you made a typo. What is the easiest way to fix it?
