Importing a Starter Template and Customizing Astra

Now that we've installed the Astra theme, instead of designing everything from scratch, we will import a Starter Template—a pre-built website layout that we can customize. This saves time and ensures that our website has a professional design right from the start.

Why Use a Starter Template?

Astra's Starter Templates allow you to import a complete website design in a few clicks. Instead of manually adjusting settings, you start with a ready-made layout and only need to replace the demo content with your own.

  • Saves time: no need to build a site from scratch;

  • Pre-designed layouts: professionally designed sections and pages;

  • Easily customizable: modify colors, fonts, and images.

Since we're using Gutenberg (Block Editor) in this course, we'll choose a Starter Template that is fully compatible with blocks.

Installing the Astra Starter Templates Plugin

Method 2: Using the Astra Settings (Recommended)

  1. Go to Astra → Starter Templates in the WordPress dashboard;

Important: when importing a template, you may be asked to:

  • Choose a color scheme from preset options;
  • Select typography preferences for the website.

These settings can be adjusted later if needed. Once the import is complete, your website will look exactly like the chosen template—ready for additional customization!
