Hootsuite is a comprehensive social media management platform that allows users to manage multiple accounts, schedule content, interact with audiences, and analyze performance β€” all from one central dashboard.
It supports major platforms, including: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Threads.

Navigating the Hootsuite Dashboard

Key Sections of the Hootsuite Dashboard

  1. Home: consist the recent activity and updates, upcoming or scheduled posts, and high-level analytics or performance summaries;
  2. Streams: under the More β†’ Streams area, you can set up live feeds for: mentions of your brand, comments and replies, competitor activity, specific hashtags or keywords. It helps you monitor conversations in real time;
  3. Planner: is your visual content calendar;
  4. Inbox 2.0: centralizes messages and comments from all connected platforms;
  5. Analytics: section that provides tools to track: engagement (likes, comments, shares), follower growth, and post and campaign performance and more;
  6. Content Library: from the Plan β†’ Content area (top right), you can access the Content Library. This is a storage space for: media files (images, videos) and post templates and reusable assets.

Connecting Social Media Accounts

Before you can schedule posts or monitor engagement, you need to connect your social media accounts to Hootsuite. This is a one-time setup step that allows Hootsuite to publish content and pull data from your profiles.

Setting Up Your Profile and Preferences

Setting up your Hootsuite profile correctly ensures accurate scheduling, better security, and a smoother workflow.

1. Update Your Profile

Open your profile icon β†’ Your Profile and update your picture, email, and especially your time zone so all scheduled posts publish at the right time.

2. Adjust Notifications

Go to Notifications and enable alerts you need (mentions, comments, post failures). Disable anything unnecessary to stay focused.

3. Strengthen Security

In Security, turn on Two-Step Verification (2FA) to protect your account, especially important when managing multiple social profiles.
