Marketplace and Replacing Assets

In this chapter we will go over how to add assets from the Unreal Engine Marketplace to your project. Then what you want to do is that you can replace the blocks that we have in our level with these assets if you so wish! It is completely up to you to choose these assets and it is just a matter of taste! You can use whichever assets that you find interesting.

From the Epic Game launcher, go to Unreal Engine and choose Marketplace.

Here you can either purchase a package or you can browse through the Free section and just buy these free packs for 0 dollars.

So let us click on Free and in the right hand side, there are a few filters that you can use to specify what you are looking for. Type in for example Low Poly and choose a package that you like!

Alternatively, search whatever keyword that suits your idea best! If you want to give the game a more mysterious feel, for example, look for Dungeon and try your luck there!

Either way, choose a package and click on either add to cart or Purchase/Free.

If you choose to add the pack to the cart, then you will need to go to the cart and that is in the top right corner and finish the process - but you can technically continue and add several packs to the cart and finish the process for all of them at once!

Now, if you go back to the Library in the Epic Launcher, you can scroll down to Vault and here you should see the package(s) that you just got. Click on Add to Project and select your project. Wait for the downloading and adding to finish and that is it!

Now you can open your project and look for these assets and place them into your level! Feel free to play around and find what works for you; the most important thing here is that you learn so don’t be afraid of testing out various setups!

In the video above you will learn you how to replace the cubes with more interesting meshes.
