Installing the Claude OS Builder plugin into Cowork and running the os-architect skill — a guided discovery flow that asks you six to eight questions about your role, your tools, and your work, then proposes the components of your OS before any of them are built.
This is where planning turns into implementation. Rather than manually creating every component from scratch, you will use the Claude OS Builder plugin, available as a ZIP file in the course resources. It provides a structured starting point so you can focus on designing your workflows instead of setting up the underlying framework.
The plugin includes five reusable skills: os-architect, os-project-builder, os-routine-builder, os-dashboard-builder, and os-skill-builder, along with supporting templates and role patterns that help assemble a complete Claude OS.
Despite the name, a skill is nothing more than a set of instructions for Claude. It is simply text that tells the AI how to behave and what process to follow. The effectiveness of a skill comes from how well those instructions are written and organized. In practice, the plugin consists of carefully designed instruction files and templates that work together to accelerate the creation of reliable AI workflows.
You do not need programming experience to create or modify a Claude skill. Since a skill is simply a structured instruction file, most changes involve editing plain text rather than writing code.
